Understanding Hair Growth

Anagen

Anagen
This is also called the Growth phase. It is the longest and most active stage of the hair growth cycle. In this phase, hair grows about 1–2 cm every month.

Catagen

Catagen
This is a short transition phase that lasts for only 1–2 weeks. During this time, the hair stops growing and the follicle gets separated from its blood supply, which prepares it for the shedding phase.

Telegen

Telogen
This is the shortest and least active stage of the hair growth cycle. Hair starts shedding. If this Phase prolongs for larger Duration, this is called Telogen Effluvium (TE).

Exogen

Exogen This is the final stage of the hair growth cycle where old hair falls out and new hair starts growing. This phase can last 6–12 months and keeps the cycle healthy and balanced.
